Northrop Grumman Australia (NGA) is offering an exciting Contracts Internship within our Contracts function as part of the 2026–2027 Summer Intern Program.
This internship is a great opportunity for students interested in commercial, legal, and business aspects of Defence programs. You’ll work closely with experienced contracts professionals and gain exposure to how large, complex Defence contracts are managed across multiple program areas and head office functions.
The role is designed to provide broad exposure to NGA’s business, with hands‑on involvement in real contract activities and insight into how commercial decisions support long‑term Defence capabilities.
What you’ll be doing
As a Contracts Intern, you will:
Support the Senior Contracts Manager across a variety of contract‑related tasks Assist with
reviewing documentation associated with contract changes, Statements of Work, and contract deliverables
Contribute to the development of tender responses, where applicable
Gain exposure to multiple program areas and head office activities
Support planning activities for future programs and business priorities
Learn how contracts and commercial decisions enable the delivery of Defence capability
This 12 week internship is designed to help you learn, grow, and gain confidence in a real Defence contracts environment. This role is based at our Symonston office in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
Eligibility requirements:
We’re looking for motivated students with an interest in contracts, business, and the Defence industry. Ideally, you’ll bring:
Penultimate or final‑year study in Law, Commerce, Economics, or Business
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good commercial awareness and the ability to think critically
A genuine interest in Defence, industry, and how large organisations operate
Willingness to learn and contribute across a broad range of activities
Ability to work full-time over the allocated internship period
