Description
Looking for an internship where you can make a genuine impact while gaining real‑world experience?
As an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Intern at Northrop Grumman Australia (NGA), you’ll support our teams in maintaining safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplaces. This is a great opportunity to apply what you’re learning at university, gain exposure to best‑practice safety systems, and understand how EHS supports complex Defence and technology programs.
You’ll work alongside experienced EHS professionals in a supportive environment that values learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing
With guidance and mentoring throughout your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to:
Support EHS initiatives and day‑to‑day safety activities across the business
Assist with health, safety and environmental reporting and documentation
Help with risk assessments, audits, and inspections
Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
Learn about WHS legislation, environmental compliance, and safety management systems
Work with teams across operations, programs, and facilities to promote a strong safety culture
This 12 week internship is designed to help you build practical skills and confidence in a real workplace setting. This role can be based at either our Amberley base in Queensland or the Edinburgh base in South Australia.
Eligibility requirements:
We’re looking for enthusiastic students who are keen to learn and contribute:
Currently studying a degree in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, or a related discipline
Interested in workplace safety, environmental management, or risk
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
Comfortable working with documentation, data, and reports
Good communication skills and a proactive, team‑focused attitude
Australian citizenship (required for some work environments)
Ability to work full-time over the allocated internship period

The Recruitment Process

You will receive a call or email from one of our friendly recruitment team to talk through your application. From here, our recruitment team will organise for you to attend one of our assessment centres or an interview.
A recruitment representative or your hiring manager will give you a call to let you know if you are successful or unsuccessful.
