Description
Northrop Grumman Australia (NGA) is offering an exciting Engineering Internship within our Technology Outreach team as part of our 2026–2027 Summer Intern Program. This hands-on opportunity is designed for students who are keen to apply their engineering studies to real-world Defence and technology challenges while building experience with a global defence leader.
As an Engineering Intern, you’ll contribute to innovative Technology Outreach projects, supporting the evolution of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Engineering capabilities. Your work will focus on mission-level modelling, simulation, analysis and visualisation of future operational scenarios—particularly in maritime and underwater domains.
What you’ll be doing
During your internship, you will:
Support mission-level modelling and simulation of future Defence scenarios
Assist in developing and visualising simulated joint maritime and undersea operations
Contribute to studies that demonstrate the operational benefits of Northrop Grumman technologies
Prepare and present insights and outcomes to internal stakeholders
Work closely with engineers, technology leaders, and university research partners
This 12 week internship is designed to help you learn, grow, and gain confidence in a real Defence engineering environment. This role is based at our Fortitude Valley office in Brisbane, Queensland.
Eligibility requirements:
We’re looking for students who are curious, analytical, and eager to learn in a Defence-focused engineering environment. Ideally, you’ll bring:
Current enrolment in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or Software Engineering
Minimum 3rd year university standing
An interest in simulation, modelling, systems, or mission engineering
The ability to quickly learn new tools and software (including commercial-off-the-shelf modelling applications)
Exposure to, or interest in, Defence or Australian Defence Force (ADF) systems is highly regarded
Ability to work full-time over the allocated internship period
If you’re ready to apply your engineering studies in a real Defence environment and learn from some of the best in the industry, we’d love to hear from you. You can submit your application, along with your Resume, Cover Letter and Academic Transcripts on our website. Due to our secure systems, we are unable to accept resumes and other documentation via email.
