Grandview Kids is an independently operated not-for-profit organization. We are the only Children's Treatment Centre in the Durham Region providing specialized programs, outpatient clinical treatment and support to thousands of children and youth with special needs and their families.

About Grandview Kids

Grandview Kids provides an array of specialized programs, rehabilitation services, and outpatient clinical treatments to children and youth with physical, communication, and developmental needs. Programs and services – which are delivered at the Centre, in the community, at schools, and in-home – include: medical consultation, assessment, and diagnosis; audiology, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; respite services; social work; speech-language pathology; therapeutic recreation; and family engagement. Grandview Kids actively participates in research to support innovation in rehabilitation science, to advance organizational capabilities, and to better serve caregivers and the developmental needs of their children and adolescents. Grandview Kids is now accepting applications for the position of:

Communications and Marketing Student (Contract Full Time)

 

  • Full-time Contract – 37.5 hours/week 
  • June 22nd, 2026 – August 14th, 2026
  • Hourly Rate: $18 per hour 
  • Hybrid 


Under the direction of the Manager of Communications and Marketing, the Communications and Marketing Student will be provided experience in the following: assisting in monitoring social and traditional media, as well as content development; provide input into and assistance with newsletter content development; participate in active brand auditing; assist with photography and videography projects as required; participate in event planning; support departmental/organizational efforts in Quality Management (QM) activities; participate in education, orientation and public relations as required; maintain a safe work environment; perform other duties as required. Client services, digital proficiency, leadership and organization skills will be required and enhanced through the development of their talents on the Communications Team.


Responsibilities:


  • Writing and editing key publications, media materials and documents, including scripts for video marketing campaigns, external correspondence, promotional materials, email campaigns, etc;
  • Assisting with communications support for key internally and externally focused initiatives, projects and events;
  • Drafting and updating internal communications materials, such as staff communications and SharePoint intranet content;
  • Ensuring adherence to corporate brand standards for internal and external marketing materials;
  • Assisting with crafting digital content, including web stories, videos, posts, features and blogs;
  • Supporting event planning and management;
  • Providing photography, videography and video editing support at events or for communications materials;
  • Ensuring alignment to organizational strategic communications planning;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in progress or Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or English.
  • Experience in writing, digital media and strategic communications.
  • Excellent writing abilities, including research, interviewing, fact-checking and proofreading.
  • Experience working with media monitoring and social media platforms and tools in a professional environment (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work comfortably within a multi-disciplinary team or autonomously.
  • Comfortable working with technology and applying new methods of communication.


You have experience and knowledge with communication techniques and strategies and demonstrate creativity and innovation in your work. You may have working experience and knowledge of working in an environment with children with communication, developmental and physical needs. Excellent time management and attention to detail is essential. 

 

Please note this position is assigned to The Jerry Coughlan Building – Grandview Kids’ Ajax-based headquarters located at 1461 Harwood Avenue, Ajax ON.
