The intern will gain hands-on research experience in a neuroscience laboratory setting via routine training and performance of standard lab assays to better comprehend nuerodegenerative and nueropsychological diseases. By the end of the term, the intern will have an understanding of the concept nad application of the scientific method, have a deep comprehension of a specific nuerological disease, and perform wet lab/cell culture tasks with confidence. The intern will be trained and supervised during assays such as but not limited to: western blotting, iPSC maintanence, ICC/histology. They will engage in presenting their work at lab meetings to gain insight, confidence, and clarification/corrections. The first month minimum will be hands on training with an approved lab member for all in lab skills. Intern will have weekly to monthly meetings with mentor and/or PI along with routinely presenting in lab meetings to assess progress. Progress will be assesed via routine lab meetings, the ability to communicate topics clearly and accurately in meetings, and the quality of written materials as time progresses (ex: lab notebook, presentations, ect.). By the end of the term, the intern will have an understanding of the concept nad application of the scientific method, have a deep comprehension of a specific nuerological disease, and perform wet lab/cell culture tasks with confidence.
