About the Role

Description

SHINE Technologies is seeking an IT Intern for the 2026 Summer season. This position offers hands-on experience in supporting IT operations, cybersecurity, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to projects that enhance our company’s infrastructure. The IT Intern will work closely with experienced professionals to gain practical skills in systems administration, networking, and user support, while assisting with day-to-day IT tasks.


The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. 
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues for staff and systems.
  • Provide technical support to employees, including setting up workstations, resolving connectivity problems, and answering IT-related questions.
  • Help maintain and update IT documentation, such as user guides, inventory lists, and system configurations.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, software, and peripherals.
  • Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades, software rollouts, or cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Monitor system performance and report anomalies to senior IT staff.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks, including managing user accounts and access permissions.
  • Collaborate with team members to test new tools or technologies as needed.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a degree program related to Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar field (or recent      graduate).
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux), and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with common software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, remote desktop applications).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience with IT support or coursework/projects in IT is a plus but not required.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
