About the Role

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s Finance team is excited to welcome a current undergraduate or graduate student—or a recent graduate (within the past six months)—to join our team. This opportunity is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience working alongside a collaborative team while developing insight into Finance initiatives. The position offers a flexible, hybrid schedule, with up to 50% of time spent in the office.

Pay: $20/hour

Duration: 4-10 weeks between June and August 2024

Schedule: Flexible, M-F, 4-8 hours daily, no more than 29 hours per week (50% Hybrid)

Essential Duties:

The primary focus of this role will be to assist Finance in the strategy and execution of our Finance-related projects. Key areas of focus for the Finance intern will include:

  • Assist with learning and developing finance deliverables using AI tools.
  • Developing finance reports using internal tools and applications. 
  • Asist with automating repots in finance, contracts and grants and the conference center. 
  • Developing financial models for various funding programs. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following KSAs

Knowledge: 

  • Intermediate accounting and finance 
  • Strategic concepts and frameworks

Skills:

  • Intermediate modeling skills 
  • Intermediate finance knowledge 

Ability: 

  • Interact with a diverse group of professionals (internal & external)
  • Synthesize complex information into digestible communications.
  • Quickly learn technical computer and financial applications
