About the Role

Description

The Estimating Intern supports the Estimating and Preconstruction team by assisting with quantity takeoffs, document review, and basic cost analysis while learning the fundamentals of mechanical construction estimating. This role is designed as a hands-on learning opportunity for individuals pursuing a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field who are interested in developing a career in estimating or preconstruction.

The intern will work closely with experienced estimators to understand how mechanical projects are evaluated, priced, and transitioned from preconstruction to operations.

Requirements

  

Job Requirements and Responsibilities: (List is not inclusive)

  • Assist      with quantity takeoffs for HVAC, piping, and related mechanical      systems using estimating software and construction drawings
  • Review plans,      specifications, and bid documents to identify scope requirements and      clarifications
  • Support      estimators in organizing bid packages, subcontractor/vendor information,      and pricing inputs
  • Help      maintain takeoff files, bid logs, and estimate documentation for accuracy      and completeness
  • Learn      how labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs are developed and      applied
  • Participate      in internal estimating meetings and bid reviews to understand the full      estimating process
  • Assist      with basic data entry and spreadsheet updates related to estimates
  • Observe      and learn how estimates are handed off from estimating to project      management
  • Perform      other preconstruction support tasks as needed

· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete Form I-9 upon hire.

· Employment subject to E-Verify confirmation.

· Must be able to travel to multiple construction sites within the U.S. and present acceptable identification for security or travel purposes.

· Reliable transportation and ability to meet job-site access requirements.

Qualifications

  • Currently      pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building      Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong      interest in construction estimating, preconstruction, or project      management
  • Ability      to read or willingness to learn how to read construction drawings
  • Basic      proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
  • Strong      attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Willingness      to learn, ask questions, and take direction
  • Ability      to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Previous      internship or coursework related to construction or engineering
  • Exposure      to estimating or takeoff software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff,      etc.)
  • Basic      understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing)
