Make a Difference 

Over the course of three years, students can expect to gain proficiency in 46 healthcare industry competencies in areas such as patient care, clinical support, safety and quality, and professional collaboration and teamwork. Students will obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Students will also be completing dual-credit courses, such as Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Introduction to Psychology. Upon successful completion of the Healthcare Assistant apprenticeship, students will earn the Employment Honors Plus Seal and an industry-recognized Healthcare Assistant Certificate, which will allow them to be hired immediately in the healthcare industry, as well as giving them opportunity to pursue further education and training in healthcare.

 

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications 

Self-motivated with strong time management and prioritization skills to meet department goals and objectives. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and works well in a collaborative team environment. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective at planning and organization. Provides exceptional customer service and consistently demonstrates professionalism, reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic in all aspects of the role. Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, follows through on commitments, and maintains dependable work habits that support team performance and organizational goals.

 

  • Currently enrolled in high school 

  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to perform basic math

  • Interested in a healthcare career, even if you are still exploring different career options 

  • Eager to learn through hands-on experience in a healthcare setting 

  • Open and excited about engaging in patient care

  • Comfortable working around bodily fluids, medical procedures, physical tasks, exposed patients receiving care, and patients experiencing frustration or distress

  • Interested in science courses

  • Persist through challenges and stays committed in difficult situations
