JOB SUMMARY: The Training Camp Nutrition Intern will assist the Director of Performance Nutrition and Assistant Performance Dietitian with nutrition-related tasks and efforts for education and information to players, coaches and staff. This is a training camp position starting at the NFL pre-season from the middle of July going through the end of August.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with nutrition efforts of players, coaches, and staff by:
- Preparing fuel and hydration products for training camp practices, including pre and post practice set up, and presence at practice to assist with hydration and refueling as needed
- Assists with making recovery shakes and smoothies before and after practices
- Setting up & assisting with any catered meals/snacks at the hotel, including hydration
- Assist with inventory by:
- Assessing inventory of the snacks and functional beverages in the dining room, as well as in the case in the weight room
- Create par counts, order products, and maintain good standing relationships with vendors
- Coordinates with Kitchen and Chefs by:
- Coordinate special meal requests and meal time changes to kitchen staff
- Observe/help with menu development during training camp
- Assist Director of Performance Nutrition in collaboration with the kitchen staff for procurement of performance nutrition products
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, a study in nutrition, health science, or dietetics related field
- Interest in learning sports nutrition for high level athletes
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and have a flexible schedule as needed
- Experience working in intercollegiate or professional athletics/sports-related field
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITY
- Bachelor’s degree in sports of clinical nutrition, health science, or dietetics related field
- Registered dietitian credential (RD)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of NFL compliance
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the hourly rate for this position is $19.29/hour
