About the Role

We are in search of a Data Scientist Intern (6 months duration) from Jun to Dec'26 based in Singapore.

Projects You’ll Do:

  • Micro-genre trends 
    • Apply data science techniques to tag micro genres from Spotify public API to local repertoire on Luminate Data (2022 onwards), to size up and trend micro-genres 
    • Identify micro-genres with rapid growth potential in 2027
    • Ideal outcome: Deploy machine learning to predict local microgenre trend annually, if not quarterly - depending on the assessed speed of change 
    • First Tier markets: Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines 
    • Second Tier markets: Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia 
  • Content tagging at scale 
    • Build scraper to crawl TikTok and Instagram or our subscribed tool, MelodyIQ to scale up content trend analysis - spotting new content trends in each market every quarter 
    • This was done for YouTube content previously 
  • Catalog decay rate 
    • Model to calculate catalog decay rate if we were to purchase local catalog, so that we do not pay at an excessive valuation 

What You Bring:

  • Interest in music or entertainment industry
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL or R for data analysis
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and libraries (eg. NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn)
  • Understanding of data visualization tools (e.g. Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau).
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
