About the Role

JDC Event Operations Intern 

The Events and Donor Recognition Team at JDC has an exciting opportunity for students who are early-career, or career-pivot professionals interested in gaining hands-on experience with the planning and execution of events that advance our mission around the world. 

This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of nonprofit event management at a leading global humanitarian organization, while contributing to programs that engage donors, partners, and communities across JDC’s global network. The intern will work closely with the Events and Donor Recognition team and relevant program staff to support both virtual and in-person initiatives. 

This internship is unpaid. This role offers valuable exposure for those interested in nonprofit work, global affairs, communications, and/or events management. JDC is happy to work with students to structure the internship in a way that supports eligibility for academic credit or external university stipends and funding programs. 

What will you do as an Event Operations Intern? 

Event Planning & Execution 

  • Learn event operations by assisting with planning and coordinating virtual and in-person events such as briefings, symposiums, speaker’s bureau engagements, and community programs 
  • Support development of event timelines, run-of-show documents, talking points, and logistics plans and contribute to creating templates and streamlining of event planning 
  • Research and coordinate vendors, venues, potential collaborators, speakers, and materials 

Operations & Coordination 

  • Manage registration processes, RSVP tracking, and attendee communications 
  • Support internal coordination across departments and with external vendors 
  • Shadow event staff to provide live support during events (on-site or virtual), including troubleshooting and participant management 

Content & Communications 

  • Assist in preparing event materials such as invitations, agendas, briefings, and outreach content. Create communications templates and establish protocols for future event outreach. 
  • Support outreach efforts and follow-up communications with participants 
  • Draft event-related communications (briefings, invitations, reports) 

Research & Evaluation 

  • Assist with post-event reporting, including tracking participation, maintaining event documentation and databases, and key outcomes 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Assist with additional events and donor recognition related projects as assigned 

 

What qualifications are required to be our Event Operations Intern? 

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student interested in Nonprofit, global affairs, events management, or related field 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines 
  • Interest in humanitarian work, nonprofit organizations, or global development 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design programs; familiarity with Zoom or event platforms a plus 

 

Additional Preferred Skills and Competencies  

  • Previous internship or campus leadership experience is a plus 


Additional Details 

  • Employment Type: Part-time or full-time internship (flexible based on candidate availability 
  • Hours: At least 14 hours per week, depending on availability. The schedule is Tuesday and Thursday in person at the New York office; with potential additional remote days depending on intern’s availability 
  • Location: Hybrid from New York 
  • Department: Donor Engagement within Resource Development 

This internship is unpaid; however, JDC is happy to work with students to support eligibility for academic credit or external funding opportunities.
