JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Computer Science Intern will perform development and analytical work under the direction of a SureScan Senior Physicist. In this role, they will learn existing operation of a photon-counting detector system including iterative reconstruction of 3D images. This position offers the opportunity to learn how X-ray physics and image processing algorithms are applied in a business setting. The intern will have the ability to propose, develop, and present technical concepts and approaches based upon their academic background and exposure to the latest technology trends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Software development for physics and image processing applications using Python, Matlab, or C++
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and process improvement
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of collegiate coursework in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Algorithms
- Proficiency in office automation and analytics tools (Word, Excel)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is conducted primarily in a lab and production environment and involves frequent movement, including walking, standing, lifting, and handling materials. Work may require operating material-handling equipment and performing tasks in areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, and typical industrial conditions. The company is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and push/pull up to 200 lbs.

- Must be a U.S. citizen
HOURS:
- Full-time, temporary position
WHAT WE OFFER:
- This position is classified as a temporary internship assignment and does not qualify for company-sponsored benefits; however, interns will receive any required benefits (PSL) under applicable state or local law.
WORK LOCATION:
- Must be able to commute to Binghamton, NY (required)
- On-site position
