About the Role

 

Environmental Specialist Intern

 

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist Intern for our Somerville Onsite Support and Lab Services team

This position reports to Environmental Specialist Operations Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Somerville, MA. 

Essential responsibilities and duties:

  • Completion of Triumvirates on-boarding & safety training development program, including OSHA 24 HAZWOPER certification
  • Assist with, and be educated in, management of hazardous and chemical waste programs for clients onsite following Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and other state and federal government agencies’ regulations
  • Train clients on proper chemical safety and hazardous waste management
  • Perform and document environmental health and safety audits for clients
  • Work in a team setting, developing an understanding of Federal and State hazardous waste regulations as well as Triumvirate’s Health and Safety Practices

Basic Requirements: 

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship 
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation 
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC) 
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis 
  • This position frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste. This role is considered safety-sensitive. 
  • Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree program required, junior or senior year and an Environmental focused degree preferred
  • Interest and ability to work out of Somerville, MA office from December through January 2025 (housing is not offered by the company)
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in customer service
  • Interest in the Environmental, Health, & Safety industry

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience working in a lab setting and handling chemicals
  • Previous internship or related course work in Hazardous waste management
