About the Role

Your Role

The Embryology Internship Program offers a comprehensive, paid, one year program across all modules of embryology at our state-of-the-art labs located Victoria, B.C. This program includes hands-on training from some of the best embryologists in Canada, for candidates that have a biology, physiology, or life-sciences background who are considering future employment in the field of embryology.

Upon completing this program you will be front of line for placement opportunities within our partner network of clinics across the country.

This role is a twelve (12) month fixed contract position located in Victoria, B.C.

Position Summary

This is an entry-level developmental position within the embryology laboratory. The role is designed to provide structured training in basic embryology procedures under direct supervision, with the goal of achieving independent technical competency.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor (if applicable) and Laboratory Director.
  • Works under direct supervision always until technique is signed off.

Role Specific Scope

  • Completes structured embryology training program. The duration of the training period will depend on the specific technique, the size of the clinic and the availability of trainers and materials. It is usually expected that most of the training is completed within approximately 12 months.
  • Performs embryology procedures only after documented competency validation and have been signed off by the Laboratory Director.
  • Maintains detailed training logs with trainer signatures.
  • May perform independently only on validated and signed off techniques and will continue to require assistance and support.
  • The Fertility Clinic may determine to have a specific progression from Embryologist Intern to Embryologist in Training based on Laboratory Director confirmation or maintain this as a single level position.
  • Is not eligible to perform weekend duties without accompaniment

Performance Milestones

  • An initial three- or six-month evaluation depending on the Fertility Clinic’s HR policies.
  • Continual review and evaluation during the training period with the Laboratory Supervisor and/or Laboratory Director.
