Job Title: Marketing & Public Relations Intern
Department: Marketing
Reports To: Marketing Manager / Director of Marketing
Status: Internship (Part-Time / Temporary)
Position Summary
The Marketing & Public Relations Intern supports the marketing team in promoting the credit union’s products, services, community initiatives, and brand presence. This role provides hands-on experience in content creation, digital marketing, public relations, and community engagement within a member-focused financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Support
- Assist in developing and executing marketing campaigns for products, services, and promotions
- Create and schedule content for social media platforms
- Draft marketing materials including emails, newsletters, website content, and blog posts
- Support the design and production of flyers, brochures, and digital ads
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis
Public Relations & Communications
- Draft press releases and media advisories
- Assist with internal communications and member announcements
- Monitor media coverage and compile press reports
- Help maintain media contact lists
- Support community outreach and event coordination
Digital & Analytics
- Track social media engagement and campaign performance metrics
- Assist with website updates and content management
- Compile marketing analytics reports and summaries
- Support email marketing campaigns and database management
Community Engagement
- Represent the credit union at community events (as needed)
- Assist with financial education initiatives and outreach programs
- Support sponsorship and partnership activities
- The intern will perform any other marketing duties assigned the manager
Requirements
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of financial services or interest in the credit union industry
- Experience with content creation or campus/organizational marketing
- Basic understanding of analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media insights)
