About the Role
A Brief Overview

The Genetic Counseling Intern will support team members of the Center for Human Genetics Cancer Service in routine clinical and research activities under direct supervision of a licensed genetic counselor and/or licensed medical geneticist.

What You Will Do
  • Case preparation.
  • Pre-clinic telephone calls to obtain medical and family histories.
  • Assistance with genetic test ordering.
  • Assistance with research projects (data collection, entry, and management, etc.).
  • Performance of clerical duties (faxing, filing, mailing, copying etc.).
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in health sciences related field or psychology field (Required)
Work Experience
  • Admittance to an accredited genetic counseling training program (Preferred)
