The internship is hosted by the Partnership and Program Development unit, in the Department of Programs. Your direct colleagues will be 1 Mutual Capacity Strengthening (MCS) and Safeguarding Lead, 2 MCS Specialists, 6 Donor Engagement Managers, and 5 Proposal Developers. Together, they report to the Unit Manager. You will also interact with colleagues from other units/departments and partner organizations.

In this internship, you will contribute to the decolonization efforts of Oxfam Novib, . You will support initiatives that seek to establish a practice of capacity sharing and authentic and equitable partnership between Oxfam Novib and partners across the countries where we work. You will support projects on fair value chains, sexual and reproductive health, and climate justice. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to explore additional aspects of working in an INGO that you find interesting for your own professional and personal development.

 

Key tasks

📰 Lead the development of the P&P newsletter and support the organization of bi-weekly team meetings

📊 Support the setup of MCS components in new projects, as well as the analysis of data on and development of capacity strengthening trajectories for partners in Oxfam Novib’s projects around the world

👩‍🍳 Transforming complex documents and policies into learning and communication material

🎇 Leading on editing and designing documents, articles, blogs, presentations, reports, assessments

💬 Support in preparing meetings (online and offline), including co-facilitating sessions and support with logistics of events

🧳 Carry out ad-hoc tasks for other teams/project as needed and in accordance with personal preferences and interest

Support the Donor Engagement Managers in their work to raise funds from institutional donors such as the EU by e.g. researching funding opportunities, support with organizing proposal development processes, and other related tasks.   

 

Who are we looking for?

📚 Currently a university student (HBO or Master) in Social Sciences, International Studies, Development, Cooperation, and similar.

🎇 Very good command of software to produce creative content (e.g. Canva, Adobe Photoshop) – wow us with your CV design! Experience with Miro or similar and e-learning development is a plus

👓 Experience with analyzing qualitative data and synthetizing the information

🤼 Someone who likes to work in teams, and participate in brainstorming and creative sessions

💪 Someone who does not shy away from taking the lead and responsibility, and asking critical questions

📣 A critical thinker who is up to date with the recent trends in the non-profit sector and is not scared to speak up!

💬 Have excellent written & spoken English skills. Other languages like French and Arabic grant a little advantage.

💡 Strong cultural sensitivity and gender awareness; excellent communication skills.

 

When can you do an internship with us?

For this internship, we are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

You are 18 years or older and enrolled throughout the entire internship period at a Dutch educational institution (HBO or university level). You have the legal right to live and work in the Netherlands, or you can obtain this through your study programme (via a three-party internship agreement). In addition, you have less than 3 years of relevant full-time work experience and have not previously been employed by Oxfam Novib.

Please note: this internship is intended as work experience and career orientation and is not suitable as a graduation internship.

 

Our offer

You will receive an internship agreement and a monthly allowance of €450 based on a 36-hour work week (pro rata for fewer hours). The minimum number of working hours is 24 per week.

We offer a hybrid working model: at least two days per week at our office in The Hague and the rest from home. Travel costs are reimbursed if you do not have a student public transport card.

The internship runs from September 2026 until the end of January 2027 (approximately 5 months); an earlier start date is not possible. Supervision and guidance will be provided throughout the internship. Our preference is to use the UNL internship agreement, if this is accepted by your educational institution.
