About the Role
Departmental Overview

Compensation

    • $27.83- $45.46/hr based on previous work experience + $2.50 PRN I differential - 3 shifts per 6 week schedule.
    • $35 flat rate PRN II - 6 shifts in a 6 week schedule. 
    • $42 flat rate PRN III - 12 shifts in a 6 week schedule.  
    • Evening differential $2.50/hr.
    • Night differential $3.00/hr.
    • Weekend differential $3.00/hr.

Norman Regional Hospital ICU is a 32 bed unit. The ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions- including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. The ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures/diagnosis seen in ICU include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals.

Comprehensive and inclusive training and for new graduate RN. 12 week orientation with a designated preceptor.


Job Summary

RN essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
  • Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions
  • Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

Experience

  • Previous experience in healthcare field preferred

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combinationof education and experience).

 

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
  • New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program
