About the Role

The Kestra team has over 400 years of experience in the external and internal cardiac medical device markets. The People and Talent Operations Intern will gain practical exposure to a broad range of human resources functions while supporting day-to-day operations and initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with HR and Talent Acquisition professionals and contribute to meaningful projects across areas such as talent acquisition, employee onboarding programs, and overall process improvement. The intern will serve as a valued contributor on multiple initiatives, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how HR supports organizational goals.

At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a clear understanding of how their program of study directly contributes to a human resources department and the medical device industry.

This is a part-time temporary internship position, working with the People Operations Department at Kestra.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Be an engaged supporter to the People Operations team in key People Operations programs such as onboarding, talent acquisition, training facilitation, and other special programs
  • Evaluate and update outdated or stagnant onboarding processes to enhance the overall new‑hire experience
  • Leverage newly implemented recruitment and onboarding tools and existing systems to automate workflows, improve reporting capabilities, and strengthen communication efforts
  • Coordinate a talent evaluation process and check-in points through recruitment and onboarding experience
  • Review all onboarding presentations and materials, providing recommendations to optimize content flow and scheduling
  • Implement Talent Acquisition’s Applicant Tracking and Customer Relations Management systems.
  • Identify and integrate new presentations—such as emerging technology topics (e.g., AI)—into the onboarding program
  • Assist in the full recruitment and onboarding process from start to finish, ensuring a smooth, consistent, and high‑quality new‑hire experience
  • Gather and report routine and ad-hoc data in a compliant and confidential manner to appropriate People Operations Team Members
  • Apply Human Resources concepts, policies and procedures in a manner that adheres to confidentiality, federal and state laws, and aligns with Kestra’s core values and mission
  • Learn or maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent and performance management, and employment law

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience Required:

  • Be currently enrolled at an accredited university pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Communications, or related fields
  • Demonstrated interest in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and a strong motivation to learn and optimize processes and operational efficiencies
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity, professionalism, and a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar productivity tools
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute within a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Interest in emerging HR trends, including employee experience, talent development, and people analytics

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor open office environment
  • Minimal noise volume typical to an office environment
  • Extended/overtime hours when needed
  • Kestra manufactures and provides life-saving products regulated by the Federal Food and Drug Administration and under contract with Medicare.  Kestra maintains a drug free workplace and testing is a condition of employment.

INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must complete a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
  • Must complete a pre-internship drug screen

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, such as keyboard and mouse usage
  • Frequent stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • Frequent computers use
  • Frequent phone and other business machine use
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds

This role is an in-office position Monday - Thursday, in Kirkland, Washington with the flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
