About the Role
Internship - Business Operations - Program Management

Company:

Boeing Aerostructures Australia Pty Ltd

About Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA)

We produce flight control surfaces for Boeing Commercial Aircraft and employ over 1,100 people at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne. When The Boeing Company acquired Boeing Aerostructures Australia heritage companies AeroSpace Technologies of Australia in 1996 and Hawker de Havilland in 2000, it had already been working with the Australian aerospace firms for many years. BAA is Australia's only designer and manufacturer of structural composite commercial aircraft components for Boeing's commercial airplanes and through the heritage entities has been in existence since 1927.

BAA's core capabilities cover work in the areas of design, test, certification and manufacture of advanced structures for commercial airplanes. As a Tier 1 partner to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program, BAA is the sole source supplier of 787 moveable trailing edges, comprising left and right hand inboard flaps, flaperons, outboard flaps and ailerons. The 787 Dreamliner contract is Australia's largest aerospace contract, valued at $5 billion over 20 years.

BAA also produces 737 ailerons, winglets and rudders as well as 777 cove-lip doors, elevators and rudders. All production from BAA is exported to the United States of America, and our capabilities include design, analysis, materials and process technology development, testing, structural bonding, resin infusion, non-destructive testing, automated assembly and paint. These capabilities are complemented by the on-site support from Engineering & Technology Innovation-Australia that engages in advanced composite and automation development programs. BAA also works with numerous smaller Australian companies contributing millions of dollars to the Australian economy and enabling development of new skills across the industry base.

About Business Operations at BAA

The BAA Business Operations team enables the business to meet its objectives through analyzing performance of our production system, assessing our readiness to meet future production rate increases, project management, integrated project planning and reporting. The team comprises project managers and program integrators, with varied experience backgrounds from engineering to commercial airline pilots.

The BAA Business Operations team reports into the Fabrication division of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, working closely with the Fabrication Business Operations team located in Seattle.

Internship in Business Operations

At Boeing Aerostructures Australia, Business Operations sits at the centre of some of the most advanced aerospace manufacturing programs in the world.

This is not a traditional “office internship.” Interns are exposed to the operational heartbeat of a global aerospace business - supporting real projects, real production challenges and real decisions that directly impact Boeing programs including the 737, 777, 787 Dreamliner and MQ-28 Ghost Bat.

You will work alongside project managers, program integrators and operational leaders who coordinate production readiness, engineering changes, manufacturing performance, project execution and business reporting across a highly complex manufacturing environment.

During your internship, you may gain exposure to:

  • Production readiness and rate increase planning for major Boeing programs
  • Project management across manufacturing, engineering and operational initiatives
  • Engineering change tracking and implementation
  • Executive-level reporting and business performance analysis
  • Risk, issue and opportunity management (RIO)
  • Integrated scheduling and project planning
  • Manufacturing deep dives and operational problem solving
  • Audit and regulatory support activities including AS9100 and FAA certification environments
  • Continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives
  • Cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, quality and supply chain teams
  • Exposure to advanced composite manufacturing and automation technologies

Our interns are treated as part of the team from day one. You will be encouraged to contribute ideas, support meaningful work scopes and build professional networks across Boeing Australia and global Boeing teams.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical experience in:

  • Aerospace manufacturing operations
  • Program integration
  • Project management
  • Data-driven decision making
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Operational leadership

Whether your interests are in engineering, business, operations, project management or aerospace strategy, the Business Operations internship provides exposure to the complexity and pace of a Tier 1 global aerospace environment.

As well as interesting, real-life work experience, we also offer you a mentor and peer support. Plus, you gain insights into Boeing Australia to help decide the best career options for when you graduate.

The BAA internship program will start approx. mid-2026 and run until end of February 2027.

Applications for this position will be accepted until Sunday 7 June 2026.
