Department:
Solid State Drive Product Engineering Failure Analysis

Project Title:
Failure Analysis and Data Review in Solid State Drive Technology

Project Description:
This internship project focuses on developing an understanding of failure analysis methodologies within solid state drive technology. The intern will explore fault isolation concepts, data analysis approaches, and failure mechanisms through structured learning and guided exposure.

The project provides opportunities to gain insight into storage systems, device behaviour, and analysis techniques used in diagnosing performance and reliability issues, while building foundational knowledge in engineering analysis and laboratory practices.

Objective of the project:
To develop a structured understanding of failure analysis processes and data interpretation methods for solid state drive technologies.

Project Scope:

  • Explore fault isolation concepts and data analysis approaches to understand potential failure mechanisms
  • Gain exposure to storage technologies, including controller systems, memory components, and storage interfaces
  • Learn the use of laboratory equipment such as optical microscopy and thermal imaging systems through guided sessions
  • Analyse failure-related datasets to identify trends and patterns
  • Document observations and learning outcomes related to failure behaviour and analysis techniques

Learning Opportunities:
The intern will gain exposure to failure analysis methodologies, semiconductor device behaviour, and structured problem solving. The project also provides opportunities to understand how engineering teams investigate product reliability and performance issues.

Deliverables:

  • Documented observations on failure analysis techniques and findings
  • Analysis of failure-related data trends and behaviour
  • Summary of key insights from laboratory exposure and data review
  • Final presentation outlining learning outcomes and observations

Impact of Project:

  • Improved understanding of failure mechanisms in solid state drive technologies
  • Enhanced visibility of data patterns and analysis approaches to inform engineering discussions

Skillsets Required:

  • Basic data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Structured problem-solving ability
  • Clear documentation and communication skills
  • Interest in hardware systems and failure analysis

Course of Interest:
Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related disciplines

Duration Period:
