Project Title:

Semiconductor Manufacturing Process Understanding and Data Analysis in Wet Process

Project Description:

This internship project provides structured learning through exposure to semiconductor manufacturing processes and operational concepts in a fabrication environment. The intern will explore process flow, equipment behaviour, and manufacturing control methods within the wet process area through guided learning and observation.

Through mentorship and structured analysis activities, the intern will gain insight into how manufacturing data is reviewed, how process stability is evaluated, and how improvement opportunities are identified within a semiconductor fabrication environment.

This internship is learning-focused and does not involve ownership of production operations or execution of routine manufacturing tasks.

Objective of the project:

To develop a foundational understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, data analysis approaches, and basic process evaluation concepts within a wet process technician environment.

Project Scope:

  • Gain understanding of semiconductor manufacturing process flows within selected production areas such as wet process, etch, diffusion, chemical mechanical polishing, and lithography
  • Analyse manufacturing or equipment datasets to explore trends related to process stability, productivity, or yield
  • Learn basic structured problem-solving approaches used in manufacturing analysis
  • Review process documentation to understand standardisation and workflow practices
  • Document observations and findings based on data analysis and process understanding
  • Participate in technical discussions, learning sessions, and project reviews with engineers and mentors

Learning Opportunities:

  • Exposure to semiconductor fabrication operations and manufacturing workflows
  • Understanding of process flow, equipment interaction, and manufacturing control principles
  • Application of basic data analysis and structured problem-solving methods
  • Development of analytical thinking, communication, and workplace skills
  • Exposure to collaboration within engineering and technician teams

Deliverables:

  • Project report summarising data analysis, observations, and learning outcomes
  • Data analysis outputs such as charts, tables, or basic dashboards
  • Final presentation outlining key findings and understanding developed during the internship
  • Documented learning on semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment behaviour

Impact of Project:

  • Improved understanding of manufacturing data trends and process behaviour
  • Enhanced visibility of process observations to inform engineering and technician discussions

Skillset Required:

  • Positive attitude and strong willingness to learn
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written formats
  • Ability to work in a structured and fast-paced learning environment

Course of Interest:

Manufacturing Engineering, Semiconductor Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical disciplines

Duration Period:
Able to commit to a full-time internship for a minimum of 5 months (Polytechnic Internship)
