About The Company
ClearSpace is a leading In-Orbit Servicing (IOS) company with a vision to enable a circular space economy by bringing maintenance and services to orbit. The company is developing advanced, inherently dual-use technologies for satellite disposal, inspection, and life-extension, supporting both institutional and commercial missions while contributing to the safe, secure, and sustainable use of the space environment. ClearSpace is currently leading several flagship in-orbit servicing missions that demonstrate Europe’s operational capabilities, including ClearSpace-1, Europe’s first active debris removal mission, and Phoenix, a life-extension mission designed to extend satellite lifetimes. These efforts are complemented by PRELUDE, which further strengthens ClearSpace’s in-orbit servicing portfolio and operational readiness. Founded in Switzerland in 2018 and headquartered in Luxembourg, ClearSpace operates across Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Luxembourg, contributing to Europe’s resilience, strategic autonomy, and long-term space sustainability.
About the Role

At ClearSpace, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable.

Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations. Today ClearSpace has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations. From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across UK and Europe, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.

We are looking for a Robotics Engineering Intern, for 6 months, to join our Luxembourg office.

Role Purpose/Summary

The purpose of this internship is to support the development and extension of the simulator used to validate in‑orbit servicing rendezvous and docking scenarios for satellite life‑extension missions.
The role aims to support the advancements of the simulator’s capability to conduct the docking system software validation campaigns, including software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL) setups and extended Monte Carlo simulation execution, improving both efficiency and speed of execution. The intern will support with the simulator maintenance, execution of simulation campaigns, provide support in the analysis of results and tune the simulation software to align with data acquired in physical simulation facilities.

Role Responsibilities

The intern will support the development, extension, and operational use of the rendezvous and docking software simulator, with responsibilities including:

  • Support the development and maintenance of simulator components for rendezvous and docking scenario validation.
  • Support the configuration and execution of software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL) simulation setups for docking system validation.
  • Support the extension and execution of Monte Carlo simulation campaigns, including scenario definition, parametrization, and batch execution.
  • Execute simulation campaigns and assist in post‑processing, analysis, and interpretation of simulation results.
  • Support tuning and correlation of simulation models using data acquired from physical simulation and test facilities.
  • Contribute to improving automation, robustness, and execution efficiency of the simulation workflows.
  • Support the reporting and documentation of the results and analyses performed

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, Robotics, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Academic or project experience using MATLAB and Simulink and/or python
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Interest in space systems, rendezvous and docking, guidance, navigation and control, or robotic systems

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Python and/or C++ for scientific or engineering applications
  • Academic or project experience in simulation, modelling, or software development of control systems and/or simulators.
