Civil Engineering Intern - Highway

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Civil Engineering Intern - Highway to join our Highway team! In this role, you will Support Engineers and Designers in delivering coordinated highway and road designs on multidisciplinary projects, gaining exposure to real-world transportation engineering workflows, tools, standards, and construction practices. You will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to active engineering deliverables and design development activities. Interns are encouraged not only to learn, but also to contribute to project outputs, engage with engineering teams, and develop their professional skills through mentorship, professional exposure on live projects, and networking opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting Engineers with design layouts, basic calculations, and engineering drawings.
• Helping prepare engineering deliverables, including plans, sections, diagrams, and simple reports under supervision.
• Using CAD and other engineering software (as directed) to assist in preparing design documents and figures.
• Updating drawings and documents based on redlines and markups from senior staff.
• Supporting coordination between different disciplines by updating design and/or site information and tracking changes.
• Assisting with technical documentation, presentations, and meeting materials, and following up on action items.
• Learning and applying relevant standards, codes, and Parsons procedures as guided by senior staff.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at an accredited institution in Qatar.
• Fundamental understanding of core engineering principles relevant to your discipline.
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar) for 2D drafting and drawing updates.
• Interest in both design work.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings (plans, sections, and details).
• Strong attention to detail, willingness to follow standards and procedures, and good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and eagerness to learn.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

• Exposure to discipline-specific software (e.g., Civil 3D, or similar) through coursework or projects.
• Familiarity with basic design workflows and documentation practices from academic or prior internship experience.
• Experience using Adobe Acrobat for viewing and marking up drawings and documents.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, with a proactive attitude and strong interest in a career in engineering and consulting.
