About The Company
At Picnic, we’re revolutionizing the way people buy groceries. Our affordable and sustainable service is made possible by our passionate people, cutting-edge technology, efficient planning, and, of course, our fleet of iconic electric vehicles! It’s why our customer base is growing rapidly across the Netherlands, Germany, and France. One of the things that makes Picnic different is that we handle almost everything in-house: forecasting, developing our first automated warehouse and new electric Picnic vehicles, internal and customer-facing applications—the list goes on. It gives us more freedom when it comes to trying out new and innovative ideas, which is something we do a lot! We love to challenge ourselves and learn new things. Our teams have access to various meetups, language classes, ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions, our very own Tech Academy, and tailored soft-skills training. Professional development is as important to us as the service we provide to our customers. As a diverse team made up of over 80 nationalities, there are always plenty of activities to get involved with, whether you’re into sports, board games, charitable causes, dancing (at our legendary Picnic festival), or licorice tasting—yes, even that! Our scale-up culture means you get to own your role and bring fresh ideas to the table. So, if you’re looking for an opportunity to make a real difference, get in touch—we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role

In a nutshell

At Picnic, our entire business model is built on a data-driven foundation, allowing us to revolutionize grocery shopping through an app-only, ultra-efficient supply chain. We’re looking for analytical and curious minds to join us as Commercial Analytics Working Students

You’ll be part of the teams that keep our digital supermarket running efficiently. You will dive into datasets to optimize our pricing, refine our assortment, evaluate campaign performance, and uncover the insights that drive our growth.

Rather than one single analytics team, we have analytical minds embedded across our entire Commercial department. You’ll be placed in a team based on your technical strengths and interests.

What challenges await you

Depending on your focus area, here’s what you could be doing:

  • Data Deep-Dives: Use SQL, Python, or advanced Excel to interpret customer trends, track our competitive positioning, and identify growth opportunities.

  • Commercial Strategy: Analyze product performance and app interaction to provide actionable recommendations that help us refine what we sell and how we sell it.

  • Campaign & Partnerships Analytics: Transform campaign and customer data into actionable intelligence. You'll evaluate the success of marketing activities to help our internal teams and brand partners understand what drives conversion.

  • Building Dashboards: Create and maintain automated reporting tools in Tableau or Google Sheets to give the team a clear, real-time view of our key performance metrics.

  • Optimization Projects: Support the implementation and evaluation of pricing changes, assortment updates, and promotional activities to maximize customer value.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with different teams to ensure our data insights lead to sustainable operational improvements.

Your superpowers

  • Ideally in the final stages of your Bachelor’s or already pursuing a Master’s degree in Business, Economics, E-Commerce, Analytics, Retail, Engineering or a related field

  • Strong analytical mindset- you enjoy working with data and translating insights into business recommendations

  • Eye for detail to make sure no wrong information slips into the app

  • Comfortable with Google Sheets / Excel and dashboards, ideally first experience with Python or similar

  • Interest in retail, FMCG, digital grocery, pricing, or commercial strategy

  • Organizational skills and a proactive mindset - able to take ownership of projects from start to finish

  • You enjoy bouncing ideas around, asking questions, and bringing energy to the team

  • Fluent in English (German is a strong plus)

  • Availability to work 16–20 hours per week

What you can look forward to

  • Kickstart your career: Join our international team in an environment that fosters real growth and an “Act like an Owner” mentality. Here, you’ll have the chance to drive projects independently, test new ideas, and see firsthand how your work makes an impact within our fast-growing company.

  • Fuel for Winners: Enjoy fresh, free breakfasts and lunches every day in our office, along with all the snacks and fruit you need to stay fueled.

  • Unforgettable Moments: From our legendary annual ski trip, our massive Christmas parties, to parties featuring our very own Picnic band, we make sure our milestones are celebrated in style.

  • A modern working space: Work from our newly renovated office built for collaboration, with flexible working hours and 30 vacation days (based on a 40-hour contract).

  • Well-being & Balance: Professional mental health support via OpenUp. Plus, our dog-friendly policy means your four-legged friend is a welcome guest upon request.

  • The Essentials: We provide the tools for success, including a laptop and access to exclusive Corporate Benefits discounts for travel, tech and more.

  • Sustainability at Core: Be part of the revolution. You’ll contribute to a greener future through our 100% electric fleet and a business model designed to drastically reduce food waste.

  • Competitive Pay: As a Working Student, you’ll earn €14.75/hour (Bachelor) or €15.50/hour (Master) while gaining world-class experience.
