About the Role

We are looking for our next Claims Handler apprentice as of 1st of September 2026 and for 24 months at our AXA Headquarters!

 

Location: 25 avenue Matignon, 8th arrondissement Paris.

 

The Group Ceded Reinsurance department (Business Unit) is dedicated to reinsurance. AXA has created a dynamic internal reinsurance vehicle serving the Group and its entities. A human-sized structure of around a hundred people, recognized for its international expertise in the field of Property and casualty reinsurance, it is one of the largest reinsurance buyers in the global market. Its main activities are:

  • Defining the reinsurance strategy of the AXA Group;
  • Analyzing the risks of the covered portfolios;
  • Protecting the balance sheets of the Group's entities;
  • Securing the insurance operations of the Group's subsidiaries;
  • Implementing solutions optimizing the Group's internal capabilities and risk transfers in external markets.

This Business Unit is housed within GIE AXA, the Group's headquarters, which brings together our Corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices.

The headquarters gathers approximately 1000 employees and is distinguished by its strong international culture (45 nationalities).

 

The Group Ceded Reinsurance entity is organized into six services: Business Support and Coordination, Mature Markets, High Growth Markets, Underwriting and Group Protection, Analytics & Pricing, Large Claims.

 

In this Department, you will join the Reinsurance Large Claims Department (LCD) team which manages large and sensitive reinsurance claims, i.e. around 1500 claims for more than 2 billion euros in reserves. The Reinsurance Large Claims team also has the mission of supporting the AXA Group entities worldwide and other teams (Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, in particular) for all matters related to the declaration, management, and recovery of reinsurance claims.

 

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

   

What You’ll Do

 

Assist the team in the management of reinsurance claims either by taking charge of dedicated portfolios or supporting claims handlers on their portfolios, as well as in cross-functional work such as data quality in particular.

  • Analyze reinsurance treaties.
  • Report on Natural Catastrophe events.
  • Handle claims under the relevant reinsurance treaties.
  • Compare and analyze Excell spreadsheets reported for Catastrophe Claims.
  • Administrative support to the Key Case Expert, when handling complex and large claims.
  • Contribute to Claims and transversal projects.

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

Who You Are

  • Basics of insurance and if possible, reinsurance.
  • Expertise of office tools including Excel and Word.
  • Excellent French and English speaking and writing.
  • Ability to integrate and work in a team.
  • Analytical capabilities and rigor.
  • Mini Bac+2, preferably Bac+3.
