Position Summary
The intern supports the Legal team by contributing to contract review, risk analysis, and process standardization initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in legal operations within a fast-paced infrastructure and construction environment.
The Intern will assist in driving consistency across project execution by supporting the development of standardized project playbooks, enhancing contract risk visibility, and improving tracking of legal obligations. This position offers exposure to cross-functional collaboration, and executive-level initiatives while building foundational legal and business acumen.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Support the Legal team in reviewing contracts, NDAs, and other legal documents to identify risks and key obligations.
- Assist in conducting contract risk analyses and documenting findings to support improved decision-making and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to the development and standardization of Project Management Playbooks across pilot projects.
- Maintain and update centralized tracking tools for contracts, renewals, and key clauses to improve visibility and compliance.
- Participate in claims analysis discussions and extract critical contractual insights to support ongoing case evaluations.
- Support contractual forensic analysis efforts, including real-time review of project agreements.
- Assist in analyzing high-profile bids and contracts using structured tools (e.g., Document Crunch) to identify potential risks.
- Develop and document internal workflows and process maps (e.g., Purchase Order process, New Vendor setup) to support operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Procurement, and Operations.
- Participate in PM COE bi-weekly meetings and contribute insights to leadership discussions.
- Support preparation of reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and executive audiences.
- Deliver a final presentation summarizing internship contributions, findings, and recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Criminology, Pre-Law, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess contractual and business risks.
- Basic understanding of contract structures, legal terminology, or business agreements preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with legal tools or contract management systems is a plus.
- High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams while also operating independently.
