About the Role
Convergint is currently recruiting for a Summer Student Technician - Security, BAS & HVAC to join our growing team in our Calgary, AB location. As a Student Technician you will be responsible for

providing hands-on exposure to field installation, troubleshooting, system start-up, and project support, all while helping the successful candidate build practical experience in integrated building systems.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

  • Assist senior technicians with the installation, start-up, testing, and troubleshooting of building automation and electronic security systems on new construction and existing customer sites.
  • Support electrical installation work related to BAS and security systems, including device mounting, cable routing, basic terminations, panel work, and field verification under supervision.
  • Learn to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation documentation to help complete assigned project tasks accurately and safely.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of BAS components such as HVAC controls, energy management devices, and related field equipment.
  • Assist with the installation and testing of security system devices such as access control hardware, intrusion components, and related low-voltage equipment.
  • Help with job site checkouts, basic programming updates, system verification, and customer site documentation while following clear direction from experienced team members.
  • Follow all company health and safety policies, site requirements, and provincial and local regulations while maintaining a professional and customer-focused attitude.
  • Seek guidance when needed, build technical knowledge through hands-on field experience, and contribute to team success by completing assigned tasks reliably.
  • Assist with other related duties as required, including warehouse, administrative, and project support activities.

 Requirements

Students currently enrolled in Grade 11, Grade 12, college, or university programs are encouraged to apply. Coursework or interest in electrical, electronics, networking, HVAC, or related fields is considered an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada (for example, by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or work permit).
  • Valid driver’s license (G2 or higher) is preferred.
