About The Company
Sagamok First Nation is located on the north shore of Lake Huron. It is a beautiful community whose name means 'two points joining'. Sagamok's culture and language is Anishinabek and is made up of the Ojibwe, Odawa and Pottawatomi tribes. Also known as the Three Fires Peoples, the community members of Sagamok number well over 2800. A little over 50% of the membership lives on reserve, with the remainder living in urban locations. Sagamok is a place of rich stories, legends and history that derive from time immemorial. Once the summer camps of the original peoples who came down from Biscotasing, it is now the permanent home to many of those descendents. About the Role

SUMMER STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITY

Finance Assistance - Finance - 12 weeks

Salary Range: $20.00/hr (dependent on experience)

JOB SUMMARY:


The Finance Summer Student is supervised by the Director of Finance. The Finance Summer Student assists with the accounts payable records.

 

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Processes expense invoices which includes:
  • Assisting with matching invoices to purchase order, receiving document and packing slip
  • Assisting with verifying invoice extensions
  • Assisting with verifying invoice quantities
  • Assisting with verifying invoice for correct provincial/sales tax,
  • Assist Lottery Department with sales and inventory
  • Handles vendor inquiries regarding payment information, short pays, etc.;
  • Assisting with matches accounts payable checks to invoices and verifies all information;
  • Maintains files including paid invoices files and to be paid files;
  • Performs other related duties as required.


 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for on-the-job use.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Sign and maintain an annual oath of confidentiality.
  • Secure and maintain certification in Privacy and Confidentiality.
  • Must provide a criminal record check prior to commencing employment.
  • Incumbent is subject to three months’ probation.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student in entering into a Business related program in the fall of 2025
  • Student returning into final year of secondary school with one or more accounting credit(s).
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Orientation to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with vendors and co-workers to resolve issues
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
