 JOB PURPOSE:

The Wireline Field Engineer at ADNOC Drilling is responsible for executing wireline services across various onshore and offshore locations in the UAE. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of open hole and cased hole wireline operations, while mentoring junior staff and maintaining operational excellence in accordance with ADNOC Drilling standards.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific:

  • Execute wireline services for ADNOC Drilling clients across assigned rigs and fields.
  • Lead wellsite operations as the crew lead engineer, ensuring compliance with ADNOC Drilling procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and operators in wireline service delivery and tool operations.
  • Prepare, plan, and troubleshoot wireline jobs at the base, including pre-job and post-job reporting.
  • Coordinate with customer representatives and rig crews to align wireline operations with drilling schedules.
  • Advise clients on wireline operations, perform quality control of logs, and support wellsite decision-making.
  • Manage radioactive sources and explosives handling in accordance with ADNOC Drilling HSE and regulatory protocols.
  • Maintain accurate job records and communicate operational updates to the service delivery coordinator.
  • Resolve moderately complex wellsite issues using engineering, mechanical, and geological principles.
  • Utilize software tools such as ECLIPS, Warrior, and Cerberus Tension Modelling for job planning and execution.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with Baker Hughes wireline equipment and tools, including deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate proven experience in commonly performed wireline operations in Abu Dhabi, including open hole logging, cased hole services, perforation, plug setting, and production logging.
  • Ensure full compliance with ADNOC Drilling HSEMS requirements as a wireline supervisor, including conducting risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety briefings prior to operations.
  • Monitor and enforce safe work practices during wireline operations, including lifting, pressure control, and explosive handling.
  • Lead incident reporting and participate in HSE audits and investigations related to wireline activities.
  • Manage the full wireline job cycle (MTJC), including job planning, execution, evaluation, and close-out, ensuring all stages are documented and aligned with ADNOC Drilling’s service quality standards.

 QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering.

 

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

Minimum 5 years’ experience in oilfield wireline operations and services (open-hole and cased-hole), with strong exposure to Baker Hughes wireline technologies.

 

  • Thorough understanding and competency in wireline operations and services (advanced open/cased-hole services) including planning, execution and troubleshooting at wellsite.

 

  • Ability to interpret and quality-control wireline data/logs at the wellsite and communicate recommendations to customers.
  • Strong understanding of HS&E requirements including risk assessment, PTW, SIMOPS, pressure control, lifting operations and (where applicable) radioactive sources and explosives.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • Computer literate and capable of producing accurate operational documentation and reports.
