About the Role

As our Business Improvement Analyst Summer Student, you will support internal teams by helping enhance IT efficiencies, digital tools, automations, and business processes across the organization. This role blends technology, data, and business analysis, providing hands-on exposure to how improvements support operational decision-making and business growth.

You will work closely with Corporate Services, and Leadership to assist with process mapping, data analysis, workflow automation, and system improvements, while gaining real-world STEAM and digital skills aligned with modern business environments.

This is a learning-focused role designed to help students build practical experience in technology-enabled business improvement, while contributing meaningfully to internal initiatives.

What You’ll Do

Process Mapping & Documentation

• Support a structured inventory of internal processes across Corporate Services, Finance/Admin, Operations, Sales, and HSE.
• Assist with mapping current workflows and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Help document and standardize recurring processes using defined templates and digital tools (e.g., M365, SharePoint).

Process Improvement & Automation

• Help identify gaps, inefficiencies, and friction points within existing processes.
• Assist with developing and maintaining a centralized pain point and improvement log.
• Support the identification and implementation of targeted automation or simplification opportunities within the existing tool stack.

Data & Business Analysis

• Assist with organizing and tracking process and operational data to support improvement initiatives.
• Support the prioritization of improvement opportunities and contribute to reporting for internal stakeholders.

Business & Strategy Support

• Support the development of a prioritized process improvement roadmap and final summary report.
• Assist with preparing materials and summaries for leadership to support decision-making.
   Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to gather input, validate processes, and refine outputs.

Data & Business Analysis

• Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing operational and business data.
• Support reporting and dashboards that help leaders track performance, efficiency, and trends.
• Help maintain trackers related to projects, technology usage, or internal initiatives.
• Learn how data supports business and strategic decision-making.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Help map current processes and propose improved workflows.
• Assist with low-code or no-code automation tools (e.g., Excel automations, Power Automate, or similar platforms).
• Support the development of templates, trackers, and digital tools that improve consistency and usability.

Business & Strategy Support

• Assist with research related to digital tools, systems, or technology trends relevant to the business.
• Support internal business improvement projects tied to efficiency, growth, or scalability.
• Help prepare summaries or presentations for internal stakeholders.

Who You Are

Education & Interest

• Currently enrolled in a STEAM-related or business program, such as:
  • Information Systems
  • Computer Science or IT
  • Business Analytics
  • Engineering
  • Finance, Economics, or Business Administration with a digital focus
• Interested in how technology, data, and automation can improve business performance.

Skills & Attributes

• Strong analytical mindset with an interest in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Comfortable working with data and digital tools.
• Curious, eager to learn, and open to trying new systems and technologies.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office; experience with Power BI, automation tools, or coding is an asset but not required.

Other Requirements

• Able to work full-time, in-office, for the duration of the summer term.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
