Job Description
The Manufacturing Operations Intern will support day-to-day production and operational activities within the manufacturing environment. This role offers hands-on experience in process improvement, production planning, quality control, and cross-functional collaboration. The intern will work closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives
Shift: 1st shift (7:00 am - 4:00 pm) Monday - Friday w/ overtime as required
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and productivity
- Support production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization efforts
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen events)
- Help collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Assist with documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
- Support quality assurance efforts, including inspections, audits, and root cause analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, supply chain, and maintenance
- Participate in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions
- Place and follow up purchasing orders for Production needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm solutions and contribute to project meetings
Job Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or other related fields.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Physical Demands:
Standing and walking for extended periods in manufacturing facilities
Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment
Lifting and carrying objects up to approximately 25 pounds
Good visual acuity for inspecting products and reading documents
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Stamina to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
