About the Role

Job Description

The Manufacturing Operations Intern will support day-to-day production and operational activities within the manufacturing environment. This role offers hands-on experience in process improvement, production planning, quality control, and cross-functional collaboration. The intern will work closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives

Shift: 1st shift (7:00 am - 4:00 pm) Monday - Friday w/ overtime as required

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Support production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization efforts
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen events)
  • Help collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Assist with documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
  • Support quality assurance efforts, including inspections, audits, and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, supply chain, and maintenance
  • Participate in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Place and follow up purchasing orders for Production needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm solutions and contribute to project meetings

Job Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or other related fields. 
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Physical Demands: 

  • Standing and walking for extended periods in manufacturing facilities 

  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment 

  • Lifting and carrying objects up to approximately 25 pounds 

  • Good visual acuity for inspecting products and reading documents 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 

  • Stamina to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
