Project Title:

Electro‑Mechanical Equipment Reliability and Troubleshooting Methodology Project

Project Description:

This internship provides structured learning exposure to semiconductor manufacturing equipment through a defined engineering project focused on equipment reliability understanding, solving methodology, and maintenance effectiveness improvement.
The intern will learn how electro‑mechanical manufacturing equipment is designed, maintained, and analyzed by working on a supervised project that studies equipment behavior, common failure modes, and maintenance procedures. The internship is project‑based and educational in nature, with emphasis on analysis, documentation, and engineering problem‑solving rather than execution of day‑to‑day operational or shift work.

Project Objectives:

  • Understand the fundamentals of electro‑mechanical manufacturing equipment used in semiconductor fabrication
  • Learn structured electrical and mechanical solving approaches
  • Develop an understanding of preventive maintenance strategies and equipment reliability concepts
  • Translate technical observations into documented engineering insights and improvement recommendations

Project Scope:

  • Study the architecture and operating principles of selected electro‑mechanical manufacturing equipment
  • Review historical equipment fault data and maintenance records (with supervision) to identify recurring failure patterns
  • Learn the use of test and diagnostic equipment for equipment verification and checkout in a controlled learning environment
  • Observe equipment teardown, rebuild, or modification activities to understand component functions and failure mechanisms
  • Develop documented troubleshooting workflows and reliability improvement proposals based on findings
This internship does not involve shift work, night work, or responsibility for routine equipment monitoring, preventive maintenance execution, or production recovery.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing equipment and engineering environment
  • Application of electrical and mechanical fundamentals in real‑world equipment scenarios
  • Development of structured problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Hands‑on learning with diagnostic tools under supervision
  • Technical documentation and engineering communication skills

Deliverables:

  • Equipment overview and subsystem learning summary
  • Documented troubleshooting flow or fault analysis framework
  • Failure mode trends analysis with observations and insights
  • Maintenance or reliability improvement recommendations report
  • Final project presentation summarizing learning outcomes and findings

Impact of Project:

  • Improved documentation and knowledge capture of equipment behavior and troubleshooting methodology
  • Enhanced understanding of common equipment failure modes and preventive strategies
  • Contribution to long‑term equipment reliability knowledge base within the department

Skillsets Required:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Interest in manufacturing equipment and engineering problem‑solving
  • Ability to analyze data and document findings clearly
  • Willingness to learn in a structured industrial environment

Course of Interest:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics
  • Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Related technical disciplines
