Job Description:

This internship provides a hands-on learning opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of municipal government while supporting tasks related to economic mobility and quality of life. This internship will last for 8–10 weeks at 10–20 hours per week.

Examples of Duties:

  • Provides general support and assistance to the Business & Neighborhood Services Team.
  • Assists with collecting and preparing data for various projects.
  • Supports the development of maps, presentations, and reports with guidance from staff.
  • Helps staff prepare for public meetings and community engagement events.
  • Conducts basic research to learn about policies, best practices, and strategies related to supporting businesses and neighborhoods.
  • Participates in occasional field activities to collect data and distribute information as appropriate.
  • Contributes to projects based on current events, issues, and departmental needs as a learning experience.
  • Performs basic administrative tasks such as data entry, file management, and observing or assisting with customer service.
  • Develops and practices written and verbal communication skills.
  • Completes other learning-oriented tasks as assigned.

 Basic Qualifications:

  •  Currently enrolled in college.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or similar software.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS.
