About the Role

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Nutrition Intern is an entry level nutrition position. The nutrition intern will support the campus dietitians by assisting in the demonstration kitchen, nutrition-related projects, and education initiatives.  This internship provides individuals with experience in campus wellness, foodservice operations, and nutrition education.   

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:  

This position is designated as non-essential personnel.

This position requires periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching, and the ability to lift 50 lbs., in conditions that are often, hot, humid, or cold. Must be able to safely use and operate typical kitchen tools and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing or a desire to pursue a degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health or a related field.
  • Strong interest in food, wellness, and public health in a college campus setting.
  • Skilled in using effective time management to accomplish tasks.
  • Skilled in reading and written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently pursuing or intend to complete a college degree.
  • Safe food handler certification preferred; required within one year of hire

WORK HOURS

  • 20 hours a week, days vary

SALARY

  • Hourly, Part time
  • Pay Grade 1, $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
