About the Role

Marketing and Event Assistant, SC1MARKEACE (SU26)
Student Worker Eligibility:
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Marketing and Event Assistant, will maintain the smooth operation of our dynamic startup business community within the College's business incubator known as Innovation DuPage. The primary responsibilities will include assisting with marketing planning, content creation and both internal and external communications. This position also supports event, workshop and meeting planning and execution.

  • Create social media posts, manage event communications, and contribute to marketing collateral.
  • Support marketing planning and execution.
  • Contribute to branded marketing materials, newsletters, etc.
  • Collaborate with the events team to plan and organize a variety of events, including workshops, seminars, networking sessions, and guest speaker series.
  • Assist in event logistics, such as setting up event spaces, coordinating catering, managing registrations, and ensuring a seamless attendee experience.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including attendee check-in, speaker assistance, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in post-event activities, such as gathering feedback, updating databases, and preparing event summaries.
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance event formats and themes, catering to the needs of our startup audience.
  • Liaise with speakers, vendors, and partners to ensure event requirements are met.
  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
      • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.

    • Experience
      • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
      • Strong written communication skills.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset.
      • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
      • Proficiency in using event management tools and software is a plus.
      • Interest in event planning, entrepreneurship, and community building.
      • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during events.
      • Graphic design skills a plus, but not required.

        Working Conditions:

        Pay Rate: Student Rate 1 - $15.00 per hour
