Job Summary: 

The Project Support Assistant Intern will support Network Connex’s Engineering and Deployment Services teams by assisting with utility coordination (IR), permitting activities, and project documentation. This role provides hands-on exposure to the planning and execution of fiber optic infrastructure projects and is ideal for students interested in civil engineering, telecommunications, GIS, or infrastructure development.


Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation and submission of IR (811) tickets and permit applications

• Track permit and IR statuses using internal logs and tools

• Organize and maintain project documentation, files, and shared drive records

• Support administrative follow-ups with municipalities, agencies, and utility providers

• Assist with data entry and reporting related to project tracking

• Work closely with Permit Coordinators and Project Managers to support daily operations

• Help ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation prior to submission

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, GIS, Construction Management, or related field

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Interest in infrastructure, utilities, or fiber optic network development

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

What the Intern Will Gain:

• Experience working with cross-functional engineering and project teams

• Insight into large-scale infrastructure project lifecycle (design through construction)

Mentorship & Support:

The intern will work directly with Permit Coordinators and Project Management teams, with oversight from Engineering leadership.
