Job Summary
SummaryResponsible for filling a temporary position designed to provide aspiring physical therapists with hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. Allows an opportunity to apply academic knowledge and gain practical skills in a real healthcare setting by participating in patient care, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions, all while contributing to the overall rehabilitation team.

Essential Functions
-Assist licensed physical therapists in conducting initial evaluations and assessments of patients' physical conditions, functional abilities, and rehabilitation needs.
-Observe and participate in the collection of patient medical histories and relevant information.
-Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations and goals.
-Under the direct supervision of licensed physical therapists, provide hands-on therapeutic interventions to patients, including exercises, therapeutic activities, and modalities.
-Assist in providing education to patients and their families regarding exercises, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies.
-Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments and progress in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
-Document treatment plans, progress notes, and any relevant observations as required.
-Adhere to hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection control protocols during all patient interactions and treatments.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials
Grace Period for License Eligibility [Massachusetts] - MGB Internal preferred
Experience
Enrolled in an accredited Physical Therapy program or a recent graduate waiting to take the licensing examination 0-1 year required

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn and contribute to patient care.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the rehabilitation team.
- Physical ability to assist and support patients during therapeutic activities.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
