JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Production Associate is responsible for inspecting, assembling, and packaging products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), customer specifications, and quality standards. The role includes operating hand tools and equipment, performing product changeovers, and ensuring accurate labeling and packaging of finished goods.
This position requires identifying and reporting defects, supporting quality checks and inventory activities, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. Employees must maintain established productivity and cycle time requirements while ensuring safety and quality expectations are met.
- Essential Functions
- Visually inspect products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Assemble products according to approved SOPs, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Package finished goods in designated bins or approved alternative packaging based on part-specific requirements.
- Apply and verify identification labels in accordance with the Label to Content (LTC) Policy.
- Set up and prepare workstations for color or product changeovers, including secondary equipment, components, and packaging materials.
- Identify, segregate, and report defective or non-conforming parts to the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Quality Associate.
- Communicate quality concerns, equipment malfunctions, safety issues, or production interruptions promptly to Team Leaders or Supervisor.
- Support inventory counts, finished goods audits, and product sorting activities as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities, including 5Ps and Why-Why analysis, as required.
- Accurately apply felts and other components using appropriate pressure and assembly techniques to ensure product quality.
- Safely operate assembly tools and equipment, including manual screw guns, rivet guns, pop-nut guns, and manual sonic welders.
- Adapt to different work cells, production lines, or operational assignments based on business needs and supervisor direction.
- Ensure timely paging and communication to support efficient production changeovers and minimize downtime.
- Complete version changes and associated secondary equipment functions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain established productivity and performance standards, including assembly rates of 95–100%.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Team Leaders or Supervisors.
- Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Position requires repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements throughout the shift.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and stooping throughout the shift as part of regular job duties.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 35 lbs occasionally.
- Requires sharp visual and mental awareness to identify product defects and maintain quality standards.
- Employees rotate between workstations and functions to support ergonomic practices and operational efficiency.
- Work is performed in a fast-paced production environment with changing operational priorities.
- Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality variations and defects in products.
- Proficiency in color recognition.
- Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Ability to learn and use internal computer systems, including Plex, for inventory management, status updates, and scrap tracking.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required to support operational needs.
