About The Company
Aperio Global is a Cognitive Infrastructure company. We build the systems layer that safeguards decisions across complex environments where AI, data, infrastructure, and mission operations converge. Our approach integrates three intelligence disciplines: Spatial Intelligence, Cognitive Intelligence, and Environmental Intelligence. Together, these capabilities help organizations understand physical systems, interpret fragmented signals, model dynamic conditions, and act with decision confidence. At the core of this approach is Aperio’s Cognitive Layer Framework, which unifies data pedigree, governance, security, fusion, and contextual reasoning into a production-grade decision architecture. Aperio’s current platform and capability portfolio includes: NLYTEN for sense-making and contextual decision support CipherIQ for trust, security, and data integrity Reality Engine for reality capture, digital twins, and spatial intelligence HelioShield / OmniSphere for environmental and space-weather intelligence Our work is relevant wherever complex systems create decision risk—from national security and homeland missions to commercial space, enterprise AI, digital infrastructure, and immersive operational environments. Mission pedigree proves reliability. Commercial expansion proves scalability. Category creation proves inevitability. Solve for Next®.
About the Role

How We're Different

We believe the highest-impact work in national security and technology is a team sport. At Aperio Global, we operate as a single, cohesive force aligned on a handful of mission-critical efforts where our work truly moves the needle. We don't chase small wins. We solve for next.

We view the intersection of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data analytics as an empirical discipline as rigorous and consequential as any field in science or engineering. That means we bring intellectual honesty, accountability, and transparency to every problem we take on. Our team includes tech innovators, Intelligence Community veterans, and security professionals who know that the best solutions come from diverse minds working toward a common mission. We value our people, those working quietly behind the scenes, doing the hard work that keeps our nation secure.

The best way to understand how we think is to see what we've built. From full-spectrum cyber operations and de-biased AI platforms to quantum networking and cloud-native software systems, our work speaks for itself.

Come solve with us

We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package — including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, generous paid time off, short and long-term disability, professional development, and much more. We invest in our people because they are our most important asset — and because the mission demands the best.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a driven Engineering Intern to join our Systems Test team for Summer 2026. In this role you will work alongside experienced systems and integration engineers to plan, execute, and analyze tests on complex hardware/software systems. You will gain real-world exposure to test planning, requirements traceability, data collection, and failure analysis in a mission-focused environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Support test planning and the development of test procedures for hardware, software, and integrated systems

• Execute functional, regression, and performance test cases and accurately document results

• Collect, organize, and perform initial analysis of test data using Python or Excel to identify trends and anomalies

• Assist in identifying and documenting defects; track issues through resolution using a project management or bug-tracking tool

• Participate in test readiness reviews and contribute to technical documentation including test reports and lessons-learned summaries

• Support root-cause analysis on test failures and recommend corrective actions

• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers across the integration and test lifecycle

• Apply knowledge of human factors and ergonomics to evaluate operator interfaces and usability of test tooling

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, or automation

• Experience with SQL or relational databases for querying and managing test datasets

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

• Ability to clearly communicate technical findings in written and verbal form

• U.S. Citizenship (position may require access to controlled facilities or data)

Preferred

• Prior internship or research experience in a technical, engineering, or defense/government environment

• Familiarity with systems engineering concepts such as requirements traceability, V&V, or test and evaluation (T&E) fundamentals

• Exposure to project management tools (MS Project, Jira, or equivalent)

• Understanding of MTBF, reliability metrics, or basic reliability engineering principles

• Experience with AI/ML tools applied to data analysis or automation

• Demonstrated leadership in team settings — academic, athletic, or community
