DesignAgency is currently looking for an Interior Design Professional to manage the Washington D.C. Studio Library and all vendors. Reporting to the DC Design Director, you will collaborate and develop excellent working relationships with suppliers as well as colleagues in the studio. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with teams on specific projects while sourcing interesting new materials and products.
Roles and Responsibilities
To be considered, the Library Design Intern should demonstrate skills in Design, Leadership and Management, as below.
Design
- Demonstrate real curiosity about design trends, issues, materials and products
- Participate in the design dialogue and studio culture
- Assist in product and materials research for projects when required
- Research new and innovative suppliers for DC Studio Library
- Prepare (and package) professional sample boxes and/or presentation boards for client presentations and internal reviews
- Work with project teams to obtain material pricing for projects as required
- Strive to reduce rework, errors, and omissions
Leadership
- Proactively share design knowledge with other team members
- Create sound relationships with colleagues and vendors
Management
- Manage and maintain a clean, organized, and up-to-date materials library (FF&E, finishes, textiles, etc.) in the DC Studio
- Conduct regular audits to remove outdated or duplicate materials
- Coordinate with vendors to track incoming samples and manage sample returns
- Assist with maintaining digital or physical tracking systems for sample inventory and usage
- Manage supplier updates for DC Studio Library
- Act as a central point of coordination for sample-related requests across teams
- Manage all supplier events such as coffee breaks and lunch & learns
Qualifications
- Graduate or enrolled in a post-secondary Interior Design program or equivalent
- Previous experience working in an interior design library is an asset
- Working knowledge of MS Office 365 applications and InDesign is required
- Experience working in Design Spec and Material Bank is beneficial
- Excellent personal time management
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks
- Great verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and a dependable collaborator
This is a part-time position, requiring the successful candidate to work out of the DC studio location 3 days per week (Tuesday – Thursday). There is potential for this role to become full-time.
