About the Role

About Us
Welcome to Barry Nilsson. For 60 years, we’ve been shaping a better experience for our clients and our people. As an award-winning national law firm, we’ve built a culture that empowers you to not only grow your career, but be your authentic self while you do it.

The Clerkship Program
We're offering a number of penultimate and final year law students the opportunity to join our Hobart office for a vacation clerkship in November/December 2026. Clerks will be given unique insight into our firm, the diverse range of work we undertake and most importantly, our distinctive culture. Be welcomed into an inclusive and friendly team, working with supportive colleagues who are invested in your individual growth and learning.

The program will run for four weeks from 9 November – 4 December 2026, during which clerks will gain experience in our insurance and health practice - a team widely regarded as one of the top insurance & health law teams in Australia. The group is recognised throughout the insurance industry for producing high quality advice and delivering exceptional service. The team handles claims across all major classes of insurance and acts for the biggest names in the insurance industry, both locally and overseas. Specialist areas include: professional indemnity, health law, public liability, workers’ compensation and compulsory third party.

Our clerkship program is also a great stepping stone to ongoing roles at BN, including law clerk and graduate opportunities.
