Software Engineer Intern

The Boeing Korea Engineering and Technology Center (BKETC) is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join the Software Engineering team in Seoul, Korea. As part of the Boeing Enterprise Software Products and Global Technology team, this internship will provide hands-on experience in the development and deployment of cloud-based data software platform used in support of commercial aerospace products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, development, and testing of a data fusion warehouse that implements ontologies and a semantic/knowledge layer to enable unified data access and analytics
  • Assist in building metadata-driven ingestion pipelines and semantic data models to enable downstream analytics and AI use cases
  • Help develop and evaluate AI components that leverage the semantic layer (examples: intelligent search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), copilots, or ML model integrations)
  • Create APIs and integrations to expose fused/authoritative data to downstream consumers and analytics tools
  • Participate in a globally-distributed team to help design, code, and test software
  • Attend project meetings to learn project status and contribute to discussions
  • Interact with teammates and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates
  • Support Agile software development practices, CI/CD, automated testing, and security-by-design processes

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Currently enrolled in an university as a student majored in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in software development (internships, academic projects, or coursework), including design, coding, and testing
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, , C#)
  • Basic knowledge of databases and SQL/SPARQL
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Motivated attitude with willingness to learn and contribute to a team

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Course work or project experience in data modeling, ontologies, RDF/OWL, or semantic web technologies
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools and frameworks (ETL, metadata-driven ingestion, Spark, Airflow, etc.)
  • Interest or experience in AI/ML workflows, model deployment, RAG, or LLM integration
  • Experience with graph databases or knowledge graphs (e.g., Neo4j, Fuseki)
  • Experience with RESTful API development, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker)/OpenShift(OCP), and CI/CD pipelines
  • Interest in engineering, manufacturing, or operations data (helpful but not required)
