About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Design and Field Engineering, performs general traffic counting and other various traffic engineering activities.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform traffic counts using automated systems and analyze the data for better road and infrastructure planning.
  • Assists with various traffic engineering activities such as programming speed signs and installing pedestrian counters.
  • Assists with traffic data collection, review, analysis and recommendation of solutions for identified traffic problems within the city.
  • Other engineering duties as designed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Experience:

  • Must be a student during the preceding academic year and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent data entry and accuracy skills
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class G licence, or equivalent

 

Assets:

  • Civil Engineering background
  • Computer literacy in MS Word and Excel

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Use of personal vehicle may be required.
  • Must be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
