JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

 

This internship opportunity at the J. Wayne Leonard Power Station is designed for students enrolled in a technical school program, such as instrumentation, electrical, or production technician. As a P-Tech Intern, you will be fully immersed in the operations and maintenance processes of a 1000-Megawatt power station. This hands-on learning experience will allow you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the facility's production and equipment. This internship offers a flexible schedule to accommodate your academic commitments.

 

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

During this internship, the selected candidate's work day may include, but is not limited to:

 

  • Supports the Plant Lead Team and Operations Teams with day-to-day tasks.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the power stations process’
  • Supports Project Development and Implementation
  • Participate in training sessions to understand plant operations in-depth
  • Assist with Maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment
  • Prepares documents, spreadsheets, presentations, interoffice correspondence
  • Conducts follow-ups in a detailed fashion.
  • Handles multiple assignments and works within deadlines.
  • Is proactive in forwarding work issues to the appropriate managers/supervisors.
  • Works well in a team environment

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Minimum education required of the position

 

  • Pursuing a technical degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Production Technician.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher is required (on a 4.0 scale).
    • Preferred: We are particularly interested in candidates who have no more than one year remaining until they complete their technical degree program.

 

 

 

Minimum experience required of the position

 

  • Some work experience beneficial but not required

 

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

 

  • General electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation knowledge
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Must be proficient in MS office tools - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong and positive team attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to understand scope and objective of each assignment
