GENERAL CONTEXT 

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent medical-humanitarian organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MAIN PURPOSE 

The Procurement Intern will be based at MSF Barcelona and will support the Procurement team. The main objective of this internship is to assist with the implementation of the e-Procurement Portal and support Procurement day-to-day tasks. The intern will gain valuable experience in the Procurement function in an international and multicultural environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS   

Support the implementation and deployment of the e‑procurement portal through the structuring, cleaning, and participating in the migration of contracts and supplier data. 

  • Contribute to the centralization and updating of contract and supplier data in preparation for migration to the new e-procurement portal. 
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and compliance of contract and supplier information. 
  • Support the standardization of contract templates and procurement data management processes within the new e-procurement tool. 
  • Participate in the deployment of the e-procurement portal across the departments by assisting users and providing first-level support on the tool. 

Support procurement activities under supervision: 

  • Assist the Strategic Buyer or Procurement Coordinator in managing procurement files for goods and services, at both Spanish and international level 
  • Support internal departments in needs assessment, supplier sourcing, and procurement-related processes. 
  • Contribute to bid analysis, supplier negotiations, and the selection of suppliers based on predefined criteria. 

 

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION LINES 

  • Daily collaboration with the Procurement coordinator and HQ Strategic Buyer. 
  • Regular interaction with members of other departments (IT, Fundraising, Communication…) 
  • Work closely with the international e-Procurement portal project team and collaborate with other MSF sections and stakeholders. 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field.  
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (minimum B2 level) is required.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including pivot tables, formulas and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems will be considered an asset.  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage and organize information accurately.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide effective support to internal users and stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments, with strong teamwork, planning and organizational skills.  
  • Commitment to MSF principles and a strong orientation towards quality and results. 

 

CONDITIONS 

  • Position is based in Barcelona. 
  • Part-time position.  
  • Internship allowance: 600€/month for a 20h of work per week. 
  • Contract duration: from July to December 2026, subject to the terms and duration established in the university agreement.  
  • Starting date: as soon as possible (ideally no later than July 2026).
