About the Role
Overview

Newly created role supporting the Employee Health and Safety team in our operations / manufacturing facilities in Poynette, WI and Madison, WI. 


Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting employee health and safety policies and programs in a manufacturing environment to ensure a safe workplace in compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations and policies.

 

  • Document training and Standard Operating Procedures for safety compliance
  • Conduct daily inspections and compliance checks to ensure safety standards are being followed
  • Conduct post-incident safety inspections to identify root causes and recommend preventative measures
  • Develop and implement safety corrective action plans as assigned
  • Update Work Instructions to incorporate required PPE and safety best practices
  • Review safety policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • Spend considerable time on the manufacturing plant floor including participation in Gemba walks, team meetings and other activities to proactively identify possible hazards.
  • Monitor CI cards for safety-related employee feedback, and proactively solicit suggestions from employees and supervisors.
  • Update and maintain material safety data sheets and the training of new employees regarding MSDS.
  • Assist with sustainability efforts to minimize hazardous/non-hazardous waste, water emissions, air emissions, energy consumption, and other related environmental compliance activities
  • Work with safety teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate safety policies and organizational objectives.
  • Support training programs for employees and management in safe practices including hazardous communications, blood borne pathogens, respirator use, lock-out/tag-out, forklift operation, safe lifting, First Aid/CPR/AED and emergency preparedness that is required to remain in compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.  Maintain departmental housekeeping standards

Qualifications

  • Foundational, academic knowledge of OSHA regulations; local, state, and federal environmental and occupation health and safety requirements; workers compensation regulations, and SARA, EPA, and ADA requirements.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, Hazard Communication, EAP, Hearing Conservation, PPE, Hot Works, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, First Aid, AED, BBP and First Responder, Fall Protection, and Machine Guarding, Hoist and Cranes and other EHS Programs
  • Motivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities
  • Willing to accommodate a flexible schedule to cover all-shift compliance
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels in the facility.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite particularly Excel, Work and Outlook
