About the Role

This is a temporary – intern position

JOB SUMMARY

The Tax Analyst (Intern) supports the Tax Director and tax team by assisting with tax compliance, reporting, research, and administrative activities. This role provides hands-on exposure to corporate tax functions, including indirect tax processes, documentation management, audit support, and cross-functional collaboration. The Tax Analyst (Intern) will gain practical experience while developing foundational knowledge of tax regulations, compliance requirements, and corporate finance operations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  1. Assist with the collection, organization, and reconciliation of data related to sales tax, use tax, property tax, and other tax-related obligations.
  2. Support the preparation of workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation used in tax filings and compliance activities.
  3. Review and maintain exemption certificates and related records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
  4. Assist with tax audits by gathering requested documentation, organizing records, and tracking information requests.
  5. Conduct basic tax research on federal, state, and local tax requirements and summarize findings for the tax team.
  6. Support the maintenance and enhancement of tax process documentation, standard operating procedures, and internal controls
  7. Collaborate with accounting, finance, and other departments to obtain information necessary to support tax-related activities.
  8. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive financial, tax, and business information.
  9. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

  1. Basic understanding of accounting, finance, or taxation concepts acquired through coursework, internships, or related experience.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • In office environment
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

 

PLANNED BUSINESS TRAVEL 

  • This job requires no planned business travel.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • Prior internship, coursework, or campus organization experience in accounting, finance, or tax is a plus.
  • Interest in corporate tax, compliance, and process improvement.
