TITLE: Production Planning & Control Intern

LOCATION: Houston, Texas

FUNCTION

This position will report to the Production Planning & Control Manager and support initiatives focused on process automation, digital transformation, and operational efficiency within Production Planning, Logistics, and Operations. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, develop digital solutions, and enhance data visibility. This role will provide hands-on experience in manufacturing operations, supply chain planning, process automation, and business analytics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Support the automation of production planning and scheduling processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness.
 • Evaluate current planning workflows identifying opportunities to reduce manual activities through digital solutions.
 • Lead the digitization of First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory management processes to improve material traceability and inventory control.
 • Develop tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to support FIFO compliance and inventory visibility.
 • Assist in the digitization and automation of shipping, logistics, and operations key performance indicators (KPIs).
 • Create and maintain visual dashboards that provide real-time operational metrics and performance reporting.
 • Analyze production, inventory, shipping, and operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
 • Document existing and future-state processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
 • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation tools, that may support planning and operational processes.
 • Present project findings, progress updates, and final recommendations to management and key stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

Required prior accomplishments, experience and skills:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
 • Strong interest in manufacturing operations, production planning, logistics, supply chain management, and process improvement.
 • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources.
 • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, charts, and data analysis tools.
 • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, or similar data visualization tools preferred.
 • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or process mapping is a plus.
 • Exposure to ERP systems, manufacturing systems, or supply chain software is preferred.
 • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence applications in business and manufacturing environments is a plus.
 • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
 • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, bend, or visit manufacturing and warehouse areas. The employee may occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
